A

After obtaining masters degree in statistics from Dhaka Univer sity in 1966 he went to London to pursue actuarial career.

During 27 years of his stay in UK he was involved in the insur ance and pension industry working for a number of life insur ance companies and consultancy firms which included:

  • Two years with an Actuarial Consultancy firm dealing with actu arial calculations.
  • Five years in the Actuarial Department of a life office dealing mostly with insured pension schemes and actuarial valuations.
  • Six years with a firm of Pension Consultants advising clients of designing and implementing employee benefit schemes and dealing with Pension Fund valuations.
  • Seven years in a Unit - Linked Life Assurance Company dealing with design administration and pricing of Unit - Linked products.
  • Seven years with the International Division of Prudential Assur ance Company Ltd. providing actuarial support to the Company's subsidiaries in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Singapore.
  • Seven years with the International Division of Prudential Assurance Company Ltd. providing actuarial support to the Company's subsidiaries in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Singapore.

  • Worked for over 20 years in Bangladesh Insurance Industry including three months as a UNDP Consultant in Jiban Bima Corporation and as C.E.O. of two life and one general insurance companies.
  • Providing actuarial services in connection with valuation of corporate employee benefit Funds.

Achievements

  • Successfully implemented computerized administration system of 'Self Administered Pension Scheme' for the clients of Prudential in Zimbabwe.
  • Introduced Deposit Administration type of investments for 'Personal Pension Plan' for the first time in Zimbabwe.
  • Successfully close the branch operation of Prudential Assurance in Sri Lanka and repatriated a surplus fund of 3/4 million to UK.
  • Introduced Health Insurance for the first time in Bangladesh for life products through Delta Life and general insurance through Central Rating Committee of Department of Insurance.
  • Represented in Bangladesh in second Asian Life Insurance Conference in Tokyo/ Seoul in 1996.
  • Was co-opted as a member of the Insurance Advisory Board and also a member of the Insurance Law Reform Committee of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. A draft of the Insurance Act, 2005 and The Insurance Regulatory Authority Act, 2005 was prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Commerce.
